November Apex Book Club: Lessons in Chemistry

Sunday, December 6, 2026 · 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

A little chemistry. A lot of attitude. And one woman who refuses to follow the recipe. Meet Elizabeth Zott: brilliant chemist, total force of nature, and absolutely not interested in your opinion about where a woman belongs. It’s the 1960s, the world wants her in the kitchen instead of the laboratory, and Elizabeth has other plans. Then life takes a wild turn, and she ends up the star of a television cooking show, where she serves up a whole lot more than dinner. This month we’re cracking open Bonnie Garmus’s Lessons in Chemistry, a witty, heartwarming, and seriously thought-provoking novel about breaking barriers, challenging expectations, and writing your own formula for success. And honestly, could there be a better place to talk about chemistry than a brewery? Every pint on our taps is a little science experiment that went right. Elizabeth would approve. Probably. She’d at least have notes. Grab a drink, pull up a chair, and come ready to talk science, sexism, love, resilience, and why Elizabeth Zott might just be the dinner guest we all need. Longtime members, first-timers, and folks who just love a good conversation are all welcome at the table. Haven’t finished the book? Haven’t started it? Come anyway. Nobody’s grading you, and the conversation is half the fun. Good books. Good beer. Great chemistry.
